This application note provides an easy and fast enzymatic assay to quantify lactate in biological samples such as serum, plasma, urine, cell culture/fermentation media or in food & beverage products using Photopette®.
An efficient method to determine the biomass of spirulina cultures with the Photopette. The wavelength of 565 nm is used to determine the biomass concentration, 680 nm to measure the amount of chlorophyll a absorption in the Spirulina. This amount of absorbed light is proportional to the amount of Spirulina present. 750 nm is used to measure the apparent turbidity of the Spirulina.
Yeast cell counting at OD600. Almost no training is requited. The method is easy and fast performed at the brewery or in the cell culture hood. Yeast can be directly measured at 600 nm in the cell culture flask. The method can be performed at any location and does not require a lab.
This application notes provides a simple experiment to determine soluble starch concentration in potatoes by measuring the absorbance of the starch-iodine complex at 600 nm. The experiment is easy to conduct, has low cost and low risks.
